Big jon – Emcee – musician – producer – singer-songwriter
Big Jon is an experienced Host, Emcee, and Voice Talent for multiple productions, events, and fundraising benefits. Clients include: Santee Car Show, Santee Street Fair, Concert by The Lakes, Boogie Magazine Blues Jam and the Mother Goose Parade as well as other high-profile events around San Diego. He is best known in San Diego as the former producer of The Bob and Coe Show on 101.5 KGB-FM. Big Jon also hosts a Musician’s Podcast called the Dusty Futon, where he and his co-host talk with local musicians about their music. He boasts a wide level of knowledge due to his studies abroad while serving in the Unites States Navy for nearly 15 years, and applies that knowledge in the launching of his company, BigJonEntertainment.com.
Jonathan Gates, A.K.A Big Jon, loves to lend his unique perspectives to events and parties, usually being able find ways to improve processes or flows in coordinating these events. He has pursued knowledge in Law and the Constitution as well as teaching policy and procedures while serving in the Navy. He also served as an Armed Security Officer for the Naval Station in San Diego for two years. He served the bulk of his time having some involvement in an event, from singing the National Anthem to Master of Ceremony, to coordinating an entire retirement ceremony for a Chief of 30 years, all of this as an auxiliary duty separate from his main duties as a teacher, mechanic, manual writer, mentor, instructor, safety officer, lab technician, manager, supervisor, trainer of managers and supervisors, and many other assigned jobs that add an extensive depth to his perspectives.
Currently pursuing the reinvention of the podcast, DustyFuton.com, he is also co-host to another podcast to air shortly, and a contributing writer and interviewer for BackStage360.com and other publications. Big Jon’s focus is on expanding his brand and his product at BigJonEntertainment.com, focusing on music and expression, freedom and beliefs, and the ability to not be restrained. His goal is to give voice to those who need it…buy whatever means he can.
